Fee Paying Student Visa for International Students to Study in New Zealand

A report by the immigration department of New Zealand states that 46,261 international students were permitted New Zealand student visa in the year 2018-2019. An international student can apply for any of the four student visa types, namely, Fee Paying Student Visa, Exchange Student Visa, Foreign Government Supported Student Visa and Pathway Student Visa, based on the purpose and length of stay. An individual should apply for visa from the country of residence before travelling to New Zealand irrespective of the type of visa. Also, it is good to be prepared with all the documents which are to be submitted along with the application form. The New Zealand student visa requirement is as follows-

• An offer from an approved education provider
• Proof that there is enough funding for tuition and living expense
• Passport-size photos and the passport
• Visa application fee
• A medical certificate (chest x-ray) and a police certificate might be asked for

The visa application procedure takes a maximum of four to eight weeks for completion.

Terms and Conditions
A holder of student visa is conferred upon a few rights and responsibilities, as well. The fundamental most important document for a visa is a valid passport.

Passport: A holder should pre-validate for the passport whether it is damaged, missing or expired before arriving in New Zealand. In any such circumstances, students are not excused but prohibited from checking-in at the airport.
As per the regulations, the passport must be valid for 3 months from the date of departure from New Zealand.

Work: Most students often decide to work for part-time while pursuing studies parallelly. A privilege for international students is that they can engage in part-time work for 20 hours a week, at the most. However, students enrolled for at least 2 years of higher studies are eligible for this. To undertake full-time work during studies, first, the course should be of at least one year and worth more than 120 credits. Full-time work can be done only during holidays.
A master by research and PhD student is free to work for hours as long as possible.

Travel: You might want to travel to other countries while you’re staying and studying in New Zealand. In such a scenario, a multiple entry travel visa must be issued. If not, the visa is liable to expire once you leave New Zealand.
